Apollo Victoria Theatre - The home to Blockbuster Broadway Musical

 Apollo Victoria Theatre is located in the west end of the city and happens to be one of the largest auditoriums of the city with a total seating capacity of 2304 people. The theatre first opened its doors in the year 1930 with the intention of hosting different movies. It did host some of the great films at that time. The exterior part of building is very well decorated with bandings and this is why the auditorium god Grade II listed in the year of 1972.

In the year of 1950, along with cinema, the theatre began to host ballet and live performances. This was a turning point for this famous theatre and in 1981, the theatre was renovated and introduced again with the its sole dedication to host only live performances. The theatre hosted some of the most famous musicals like the Sound of Music, Bee Gees musical Saturday Night Fever, Fiddler on the roof and Starlight Express.

Finally from 2006, the theatre began to host only the Broadway musical Wicked leaving out any other performance. From then the theatre has been home to only this musical and hundreds of viewers watch the performance on a daily basis. In the year 2016, the theatre celebrated the 10th anniversary of hosting Wicked. Thereafter they showcased a special performance of Wicked where the original cast and the present cast was invited on the stage during the final curtain call.
