Buckingham Palace Gardens: A Sprawling Walled Oasis in London

Spread over 17 hectares or 42 acres of land, there are 325 species of wild botanicals, 30 species of birds including common sandpiper, sedge warbler and lesser whitethroat, and more than 1,000 trees, loaded with oak and plane trees which take the beauty of the place to another level. You can also spot other species of trees like silver maple, and swamp cypress. In the southwest corner, there are 40 diverse types of mulberry trees which were planted by King James I of England when he fruitlessly tried to raise silkworms in the Mulberry Garden on the lawn.

However, the attraction of the garden goes beyond the flora and fauna. There is a sublime lake, from the 19th century which was initially created from the excess of the meandering in Hyde Park. The lake enclosed by a gravel path is exquisite and visitors come to watch it and feel its tranquillity. The garden is kept in a good condition by around eight full-time gardeners, with two or three part-timers.
